Head down and get on

Ok we have today of at university but I’ve decided to still go in. I will use this time to do some more work to get ahead and get everything out of the way.

When finishing college at York I said to myself that If I go to University I wouldn’t let it be like at college. At college I got into the habit of leaving everything to last minute and any spare time was wasted on doing nothing. I think everyone on the college course were the same? Put it this way there was 12 of us at the beginning of the course and only 2 of us got a grade at the end of it. Even my friend Dan didn’t make the grade. But not to worry, while I took the year out he went back to college to get his grade and now he is at Sheffield University

So anyway where am I with assignments?? Well the C programming assignment that is 22 questions I have already completed that. Now that was very easy but the rest that haven’t done any programming before are finding it hard. We have an advanced computer applications lesson which I’m doing well in that too. We have the first assignment that is worth 25% and already got half way through that. Next we have maths and we have 5 assignments to complete by Christmas. Well I have completed 2 of them so far and well into my 3rd. Felling quite proud of myself.

A Success at Work

As some of you may know where I work I build and maintain web applications for the business. Well one of them that have been rolled out is to try and automate a procedure online which would usually have to be dealt with on the phone call. Well anyway the problem was getting the users familiarized with the new system and getting them to use that rather than phoning the IT Support Desk. Well anyway I had my doubts that the users wouldn’t use it, but sure enough over the past couple of days users have been using it and it appears to be a complete success. I feel a great achievement here.

Ajax and JavaScript Exploiting

You may be aware of website-codes.com if not let me tell you. The idea of it was to provide php scripts that could run from any webhost that didn’t have php support. How I would achieve this would be through a line of JavaScript that user would put on their site. Well the website has been put on hold as I haven’t found time to code it.

Well anyway because I’ve been doing a lot of Ajax and JavaScript coding for where I work it had me thinking. If you could get Ajax to work on any webhost with only putting one line of code on their site? Well sure enough you can. I did a bit of testing there and then and it worked 100%. I couldn’t believe it. Because with JavaScript you can literally change the whole look and feel of a webpage, if you think hard enough you can see how this can be very dangerous to people’s websites. One thing that comes straight to mind is that you can use this one line of code to turn a whole page into a login page look-a-like (phishing) I now see why many public pages don’t allow JavaScript. E.G. MySpace.
